Short answer: The right MVP development company in India will help you cut your idea down to one core workflow, give you a fixed scope and price in writing, show you working builds every week, and hand over the code and accounts when the job is done. Before you sign, check four things: products they've actually launched, how they handle scope changes, who owns the code, and what happens after launch. The checklist below takes about an hour to run against any agency you're considering.
An MVP (minimum viable product) is the smallest version of your product that real users can try. Its job is to prove one thing, whether that's that people will sign up, pay or come back. The development partner you pick decides how fast you learn that answer and how much it costs you. Pick well and you'll have a working product in a few weeks. Pick badly and you can spend months on a build that never launches.
We're Fly Your Tech, a software and app development company based in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, with a branch in Delhi. Our team has 5+ years of experience building web apps, mobile apps and SaaS products. This is the checklist we'd use if we were hiring an agency ourselves.
Why choosing the right MVP partner matters
An MVP isn't a cheap version of the full product. It's a focused experiment. A good partner protects your budget by saying "not yet" to features that don't help you learn. A weak partner says yes to everything, because more features mean a bigger invoice.
The wrong choice usually shows up in a few ways:
- Overbuilding: months spent on dashboards, settings and edge cases before a single user has tried the core feature.
- Scope drift: no written scope, so the timeline and price keep moving.
- Throwaway code: a quick build on a stack that can't grow, so version 2 starts from scratch.
- Lock-in: the agency keeps the code, server or app-store accounts, and you can't leave without starting over.
Each of these can be spotted before you sign, if you know what to ask.
The MVP development company checklist
Use this as a scorecard. A strong agency should be able to tick most of these boxes in the first one or two calls.
1. Real, launched products you can open
- ☐ They show live products or detailed case studies, not just design mockups.
- ☐ The case studies name the problem, the solution, the tech stack and the build time.
- ☐ They've built something similar in type, such as a marketplace, a SaaS dashboard or an e-commerce store.
- ☐ Past clients are willing to talk about the work, or published testimonials are tied to named projects.
2. They push back on scope
- ☐ In the first call they ask what you're trying to prove, not just which features you want.
- ☐ They suggest cutting or delaying features to get to launch faster.
- ☐ They can name the one core workflow your MVP must deliver.
- ☐ They offer a scope workshop or discovery step before quoting a final price.
3. Written scope, fixed price and milestones
- ☐ You get a written scope that lists screens, user types and features.
- ☐ The price is fixed for that scope, with GST and third-party fees shown separately.
- ☐ Payments are tied to milestones you can see, not just dates on a calendar.
- ☐ There's a clear process and price for change requests.
4. A sensible, scalable tech stack
- ☐ They explain why they picked the stack for your product, in plain language.
- ☐ They use mainstream, well-supported technology (for example Next.js, React Native or Flutter, Node.js, PostgreSQL or Firebase).
- ☐ They can explain how version 2 will build on the MVP code rather than replace it.
- ☐ They've integrated the services you need, such as Razorpay payments, WhatsApp, maps or OTP login.
5. Transparent process and communication
- ☐ You get a demo of working software every week or sprint.
- ☐ You can see progress in a shared board or tracker.
- ☐ You'll talk to the people building your product, not only a salesperson.
- ☐ There's a named point of contact and an agreed response time.
6. Ownership, security and handover
- ☐ The contract says you own the code and IP after payment.
- ☐ Code is in a repository that you own or that's transferred to you.
- ☐ Domain, hosting, app-store and payment accounts are created in your name.
- ☐ They'll sign an NDA before you share the details of your idea.
7. Testing, launch and life after launch
- ☐ Testing, deployment and app-store submission are included in the scope.
- ☐ Basic analytics are set up so you can measure what users do.
- ☐ There's a defined bug-fix period after launch.
- ☐ They offer ongoing support or a maintenance plan, with the price stated upfront.
Red flags to watch out for
Walk away, or at least slow down, if you see any of these:
- A price without a scope. A quote that arrives within minutes of a short chat, before anyone has asked about your users or workflow.
- "We can build anything in two weeks." Speed is good, but a promise made without understanding the product is a guess.
- No working products to show. Only Dribbble-style screens, templates or "confidential" projects they can't describe at all.
- Everything is a yes. No pushback on scope usually means a bloated build and a longer timeline.
- Full payment upfront. Milestone-based payments protect both sides. 100% in advance protects only the agency.
- The agency keeps the accounts. If the code, server or app-store listing sits in their name, you're locked in.
- Vague answers about the stack. "We use the latest technology" isn't an answer.
- No post-launch plan. Every product needs fixes in the first weeks. If support isn't mentioned, it will cost extra later.
Questions to ask before you sign
Bring these to your shortlisting calls. The answers will tell you more than any sales deck.
- What is the one thing my MVP must prove, and what would you leave out of version 1?
- Can you show me a live product or case study similar to mine, and what was the build time?
- Who exactly will work on my project, and will I talk to them directly?
- What does the written scope include, and how do you handle change requests?
- How is the payment split across milestones?
- Which tech stack will you use, and why is it right for my product?
- How will I see progress each week?
- Who owns the code, the repository and the accounts after launch?
- What's included in testing, deployment and app-store release?
- What support do you offer after launch, and what does it cost?
How much does MVP development cost in India?
Prices vary a lot with scope, platform and integrations. Published guides from Indian agencies put a focused web MVP at roughly ₹1.5–5 lakh, and a fuller product at ₹5–15 lakh.
At Fly Your Tech our MVP plans are:
| Plan | Price (excl. GST) | Timeline | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | ₹1.2–2 L | 4–6 weeks | 1 user type, 1 core workflow, auth, admin, web deploy |
| Growth | ₹2–3.5 L | 6–8 weeks | 2 user types, Razorpay payments, notifications, analytics |
| Advanced | From ₹3.5 L (custom quote) | 8–12 weeks | Web + cross-platform mobile, 1–2 integrations, investor-demo polish |
Prices exclude 18% GST and third-party fees (hosting, domain, app-store and API usage). Payments are split 40/40/20 across milestones. For a full breakdown of what drives the price, read our guide to MVP development cost in India.
When you compare quotes, compare the scope line by line, not just the total. A cheaper quote that leaves out the admin panel, payments or deployment isn't actually cheaper.
Real MVPs built by Fly Your Tech
Here's how some of the products we've built match the checklist above:
- Bharat Business Networks: a B2B directory and lead marketplace with verified business profiles, real-time buyer–seller chat and Razorpay subscriptions with coupons. The first version was built in about 4 weeks.
- Swaha Sweets: a D2C sweets store with Razorpay payments, Shiprocket plus local delivery partners, and an admin panel. The core store was built in about 4 weeks.
- E-Thekedaar: a construction contractor marketplace on NestJS and AWS, with separate staging and production environments.
- VetOsHealth.ai: a WhatsApp AI receptionist and clinic dashboard for veterinary clinics, developed over about 10 months of continuous work, including an AI agent with about 19 tools.
You can see all our projects on the case studies page.
How we work at Fly Your Tech
If you're comparing us with other agencies, here's how our MVP development process lines up with the checklist:
- Week 0: a scope call to find the one core workflow your MVP must prove.
- Week 1: UI/UX design and a clickable prototype.
- Weeks 2–6: build sprints with a demo every week.
- Final week: testing, launch and handover, plus a roadmap for version 2.
You get a fixed price for a written scope, milestone payments, and full ownership of the code and IP after the final payment. We're happy to sign an NDA before the scope call.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose an MVP development company in India?
Shortlist two or three agencies with live products similar to yours. Run the checklist above on each one, ask the ten questions, and compare written scopes line by line. Pick the one that pushes back on scope and gives you a fixed price, weekly demos and full code ownership.
How long does it take to build an MVP?
A focused web MVP usually takes 4–6 weeks. An MVP with web and a cross-platform mobile app takes 8–12 weeks. The first version of our Bharat Business Networks platform took about 4 weeks.
Should I hire freelancers or an agency for my MVP?
Freelancers can work for a small, single-skill build. An agency is usually safer when you need design, backend, mobile and deployment together, because one team owns the whole result and the timeline.
Should my MVP be a web app or a mobile app?
Usually start with web, because it's faster and cheaper to change. Go mobile first if your users need phone features such as location, camera or push notifications.
Who owns the code after the MVP is built?
You should. Make sure the contract transfers code and IP to you, and that the repository and accounts are in your name. At Fly Your Tech you own the code and IP after the final payment.
Can an MVP grow into a full product?
Yes, if it's built on a production-ready stack. We use stacks like Next.js, Node.js/NestJS and PostgreSQL or Firebase, so version 2 builds on the same code.
